Satanás é Preso
"Então vi descer do céu um anjo; tinha na mão a chave do abismo e uma grande corrente. Ele segurou o dragão, a antiga serpente, que é o diabo, Satanás, e o prendeu por mil ano" Apoc. 20:1 e 2.
O escritor do Apocalipse prediz o banimento de Satanás, e a condição de caos e desolação a que a Terra deve ser reduzida; e declara que tal condição existirá durante mil anos. Depois de apresentar as cenas da segunda vinda do Senhor e da destruição dos ímpios, continua a profecia: "Vi descer do céu um anjo que tinha a chave do abismo, e uma grande, cadeia na sua mão. Ele prendeu o dragão, a antiga serpente, que é o diabo e Satanás, e amarrou-o por mil anos. E lançou-o no abismo, e ali o encerrou, e pôs selo sobre ele, para que não mais engane as nações, até que os mil anos se acabem. E depois importa que seja solto por um pouco de tempo". Apocalipse 20:1-3.
Que a expressão "abismo" representa a Terra em "estado" de confusão e trevas, é evidente de outras passagens. Relativamente à condição da Terra "no princípio", o relato bíblico diz que "era sem forma e vazia; e havia trevas sobre a face do abismo". Gênesis 1:2. A profecia ensina que ela voltará, em parte ao menos, a esta condição. Olhando ao futuro para o grande dia de Deus, declara o profeta Jeremias: "Observei a Terra, e eis que estava assolada e vazia; e os céus, e não tinham a sua luz. Observei os montes, e eis que estavam tremendo, e todos os outeiros estremeciam. Observei e vi que homem nenhum havia e que todas as aves do céu tinham fugido. Vi também que a Terra fértil era um deserto, e que todas as suas cidades estavam derribadas". Jeremias 4:23-26.
Aqui deverá ser a morada de Satanás com seus anjos maus durante mil anos. Restrito à Terra, não terá acesso a outros mundos, para tentar e molestar os que jamais caíram. É neste sentido que ele está amarrado: ninguém ficou de resto, sobre quem ele possa exercer seu poder. Está Inteiramente separado da obra de engano e ruína que durante tantos séculos foi seu único deleite. - GC, 655 e 656.

Vi a un ángel que descendía del cielo, con la llave del abismo, y una gran cadena en la mano. Y prendió al dragón, la serpiente antigua, que es el diablo y Satanás, y lo ató por mil años. (Apoc. 20: 1, 2).
El autor del Apocalipsis predice el destierro de Satanás y el estado caótico y de desolación a que será reducida la tierra; y declara que este estado de cosas subsistirá por mil años.
Después de descritas las escenas de la segunda venida del Señor y la destrucción de los impíos, la profecía prosigue: "Y vi a un ángel que descendía del cielo, con la llave del abismo, y una gran cadena en su mano. Y prendió al dragón, la serpiente antigua, que es el diablo y Satanás, y lo ató por mil años; y lo arrojó al abismo, y lo encerró, y puso su sello sobre él, para que no engañase más a las naciones, hasta que fuesen cumplidos mil años; y después de esto debe ser desatado por un poco de tiempo" (Apoc. 20: 1-3).
Según se desprende de otros pasajes bíblicos, es de toda evidencia que la expresión "abismo" se refiere a la tierra en estado de confusión y tinieblas. Respecto a la condición de la tierra "en el principio", la narración bíblica dice que "estaba desordenada y vacía; y las tinieblas estaban sobre la haz del abismo" (Gén. 1: 2 ). Las profecías enseñan que será reducida, en parte por lo menos, a ese estado. Contemplando a través de los siglos el gran día de Dios, el profeta Jeremías dice: "Miro hacia la tierra, y he aquí que está desolada y vacía; también hacia los cielos miro, mas no hay luz en ellos. Miro las montañas, y he aquí que están temblando, y todas las colinas se conmueven. Miro, y he aquí que no parece hombre alguno, y todas las aves del cielo se han fugado. Miro, y he aquí el campo fructífero convertido en un desierto, y todas las ciudades derribadas" (Jer. 4: 23-26, VM).
Aquí es donde, con sus malos ángeles, Satanás hará su morada durante mil años. Limitado a la tierra, no podrá ir a otros mundos para tentar e incomodar a los que nunca cayeron. En este sentido es cómo está atado: No queda nadie en quien pueda ejercer su poder. Le es del todo imposible seguir en la obra de engaño y ruina que por tantos siglos fue su único deleite.*

October 26 - Satan is Bound
And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years. Rev. 20:1, 2.
The revelator foretells the banishment of Satan and the condition of chaos and desolation to which the earth is to be reduced, and he declares that this condition will exist for a thousand years. After presenting the scenes of the Lord"s second coming and the destruction of the wicked, the prophecy continues: "I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, and cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season." Revelation 20:1-3. {Mar 307.1}
That the expression "bottomless pit" represents the earth in a state of confusion and darkness is evident from other scriptures. Concerning the condition of the earth "in the beginning," the Bible record says that it "was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep." Genesis 1:2. Prophecy teaches that it will be brought back, partially at least, to this condition. Looking forward to the great day of God, the prophet Jeremiah declares: "I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light. I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly. I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled. Here is to be the home of Satan with his evil angels for a thousand years. Limited to the earth, he will not have access to other worlds to tempt and annoy those who have never fallen. It is in this sense that he is bound: there are none remaining, upon whom he can exercise his power.
